Looking and Finding
For Sparky's birthday I planned a dinner out and a movie. We decided to go to his favorite shopping spot - E&S Sales and then to Goodwill since it was half price day. When I contacted our sons to see when they could go to dinner they informed me that they were both working full days. They were going in at 10:00 AM and working until 9:00 PM which left no time for a meal out. As I searched for some activities for Sunday, saintvi suggested we go geocaching! We managed to find 23 caches!! Granted they were all what are called park and grabs (PNG). The PNG is usually a very small cache container that is usually hidden close to a parking spot or in an area that you can drive up to. We spent the afternoon tooling around back roads in Southwestern Michigan and finding the caches on sign posts, fence posts, and in trees along the road. The weather was miraculous for February - sunny, dry, and warm. When I say warm I mean it got up to 62 degrees. Sparky shed his coat and his sweatshirt. We drove with the car windows down in February! It was surreal. We took a group photo at our last cache. It was of the 4 of us. Sparky took the picture (because his arms were the longest) and saintvi and I leaned away while the opossum smiled - or maybe it was a grimace - in the background. Who says you can't have adventures in your own backyard? All you have to do is go looking for them and you will surely find them. Especially when you are with friends!

It is heartwarming to see faces shining of happiness.
I believe, Val, it is the fist time for long I see you so clearly and so smiling .
Happy borthday to your husband .
And thanks for your kind comment on my wordpress about my wife . I hope too , as you say , at springtime she will be all better.

Michel
Nice to see your name in the comments! Spring must be soon as Lent begins this Wednesday!
I guess I'm blind. I didn't see a possum behind you. I think of your geocaching every time I look at Scott's coins sitting here. I've no idea how many of them he actually found, I suspect most he bought online.
Haha! It is the white and grey blob between Sparky's head (just above his ear) and saintvi's shoulder... It was on its back with the mouth open showing all its sharp white teeth!! The geocoins are usually purchased and then taken around for others to "discover". Most people keep them to display as they usually are commemorative or artistic... Some are really beautiful!
OK -- I'm confused -- I also don't see a possum; nor do I see 4 of you! I guess there must be a cache called a possum, and you must have found it up in a tree, so it was looking down at you! Hmmm --
The opossum was the 4th one - it is dead on the ground. Look for the white and grey blob between Sparky's head (just above his ear) and saintvi's shoulder... It had its mouth open showing all its sharp white teeth!! The cache was called "water sign" and was in the sign post. You will just have to look a little more closely!!
I love E & S! I don't get over there near as much as I'd like to. I saw the possum.
They have such good deals if you aren't too picky about expiration dates... but I've never had a chocolate baking chip go bad!
@murisopsis: OK now I see the opossum -- I spent quite a bit of time looking for it earlier, but I was looking for something much bigger -- this must have been a baby! It was about 10 degrees warmer there than it has been here today -- and it was drippy all day here again. Sunny tomorrow will be nice!
Nope. Not a baby opossum it was actually pretty big. The camera angle made it look smaller. It was at least a 10 pounder if not more!
I like E and S too. It was really great when all my kids were at home. I saw the possum right away. Sounds and looks like you had a fun day.
It was loads of fun! E&S is Sparky's favorite spot - he bought himself some chocolate coconut bites (little chocolate balls with coconut mixed in). Now it is Lent and he will just have to wait to eat them!!
Hmm. I came back to view this post again and see my comment never appeared evidently. I like this shot of my smiling friends...despite the dead critter.
Hehe! The opossum was conveniently located and was smiling a very toothy grin - we had to include it!!
