Looking Tenuous
The last firing of the ceramics session yielded a couple more pieces. First is this lovely Umbellosphaera tenuis type I. It is from the Red Sea and is quite delicate looking. My version of the real thing is a little less fragile in appearance. I had tried to make the bells of the "flowers" thinner but the weight of the orb made then crack and break off before I could get it fired. This one is has Shaner's Clear glaze over Royal Blue glaze. I wanted the details to show up and thankfully they did!

Above is the micrograph of the real deal.
Here is my version. I am pleased with the colors and very happy it came out intact!

It's lovely, Val! I really like the glaze on this one -- good that it came out intact!
I liked the glaze too. Whatever luck I might have had was used up on ceramic pieces leaving nothing for the raffle.
Bautiful! God makes such interesting things in this world for us to study and enjoy.
Indeed the Creator's touch is miraculous. I can only pretend to get close to reproducing the beauty!
The first photo ~ they look so beautiful and fragile!
It is amazing that they are so small that you need a microscope to see them.
