  • Looking to Decide

    It is October already and the days are still warm but the nights are getting colder. We had a frost warning last week but it was spotty forming mainly in the areas that were shaded by the house and in the low spots. October also brings the notice of the annual Student-Faculty Art Show. This year I want to enter a big piece. My choices are the big zinnia that I entered into the Whimsey Show at Fire Arts or a new piece that I'm trying to get finished prior to the submission deadline of November 4th. The new work is about 9 inches long and 6 inches wide. It is pictured below in the greenware state, meaning not fired and not glazed.

    I am making this as a gift for my cousin. She saw something like this at a craft show and they wanted gobs of money and I said that I could make one like it. I'm hoping she will get to see it in the art show and will be patient since the show doesn't close until the middle of February! I will post photos after it is glazed...

    • Me too! It is going to be close since I'm leaving for NC on the 29th and won't be back until the 4th. I'll go from the airport to the ceramics studio and cross my fingers it is done.

    • Thank you! I am very happy with the way it has turned out so far. Now it just needs to survive the kiln. I've not been having good luck with my pieces in the kiln...

    • I will be travelling to a national convention with 3 coworkers. I will try to make as much fun for myself as possible - sadly Sparky couldn't come with me. Neither will I see saintvi or her husband WaldoWalking...
