Looking at an Adrenalin Rush
Wheels gravel grind
The rocks scrape
Scree and skitter
Trek bike tires
Spin and speed
Searching slopes
Tearing turf
Diving downhill
Breathless breakneck
Bouncing and bruising
Exhilaration ending
Bottom of the trailI've never been a risk taker. I color in the lines. The above poem is meant to be read in one breath leaving you exhausted and out of breath - kind of the same experience as careening down the side of a mountain on a bicycle. There was a xangan, now MIA, know as Judyrutrider who was a downhill mountain biker. It was a sport she loved. Even though she had taken some spills, she was always anxious to get back on the bike. We had a technician at work who had ridden Mountain bikes as a college student competitor before turning professional. She currently coaches and rides for fun. She left our employment and I'm sure she has more time to chase the wind down whatever hills she can find in southern Michigan. The one trait that seems to run through every mountain biker is that need for the adrenaline rush. They all want that heart stopping thrill. I however live my life trying to avoid all "life flashing before my eyes" moments. I think I might be in the minority...

I'm with you on that! I get enough adrenalin just driving to the grocery store.
Hehe! Have you got the insurance claim stuff worked out?? I think You've had your quota on Adrenalin this month!!
If you're in the minority, then I'm in there with you.
Seems most of my friends are not risk takers... we are the group hanging back as the rest of the people leap off the bridge!
I remember Judy. I hope she is well, and her two adopted dogs too.
I haven't heard from her for a long time. I hope she is well. I miss so many people from the old xanga... makes me appreciate the ones still here!
Judy seems to show up every once in a while, especially after a particularly harrowing ride! I hope she's still ok and riding!
I know she was MIA for almost 9 months before her last post... I do wonder about the missing xangans. I really hope Frank is OK too. I miss his posts...
@murisopsis: I haven't heard from Frank for a while either -- but I don't want to badger him. They've had 2 terrible fires nearby, which are probably affecting his breathing, and now I think they are getting heavy rains over this weekend! I, too, hope he's ok!
So many xangans have drifted away... I wish they would just come back to visit even if they don't blog.
