  • Looking Political

    This year’s political game
    Seems to be placing blame
    Refuting each spurious claim
    Spinning events without shame
    Slinging mud to tarnish fame
Subverting truth to reach their aim
    Different yet more the same
    Misspoken words they must reframe
    Loose tongue campaign will maim
    One the winner will acclaim
As the other burns in flame
Will it be a dangerous name
    Or a historic presidential dame?

I try not to get political on my blog. But I couldn't help myself with this monorhyme. The mudslinging and name calling has only begun. It seems these last couple of weeks have seen a quieting of the campaigns of the major parties. I'm sure this is just a lull before the storm. Negativity sells and the media seems to want a brawl - either real or virtual. I am anxious about the results of this election. No matter what happens I'm hoping that the House of Representatives and the Senate can contain the chaos. I've always been confident that the US could defend itself from foreign invaders. I'm not so sure we are capable when it comes to an internal assault on the constitution....

  • I am anxious about it too. I keep reminding myself that God is in control. "A dangerous name or historic presidential dame." :) :(
Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

    • It is a scary time for many people and the politicians are adept at playing on those fears - real and imagined.

  • I think the "down-ballot" contests are almost more important than the Presidential race this year! The President is only one person, and is reliant on Congress to get things done -- though the insults seem more dangerous on the international front than we've seen before. I'll be glad when November 9 rolls around and the election is over!

    • Amen. It will be the congressional seats that will have the power. Although the idea that one of the candidates will "have their finger on the button" is terrifying.

  • Agreed! Impulsiveness has no place in government!

  • Hey - I'll call you tomorrow. Brett is planning to leave around 3:30 or so. Hopefully I'll be moving better tomorrow. I have something for you!

  • This is the first year I have felt like holding my nose walking in the voters booth.

    • Yep. You are not alone. The important thing is to vote - no matter what some think it is always important and it will make a difference.

  • I really MUST share this one!!! You are a real master of language, my dear daughter! Love it! I'm slowly working my way back through all your posts and have a handy one click way to get to your page.
