  • Looking to Scavenge

I'm coming down to the wire for the church retreat (so much to do and so little time). Work is a circus with studies that demand my early arrival and late departure. My house seems to be falling apart (the plumbing and now the ceiling in the garage)! Because I enjoy challenges, I decided to make one for myself (as if I need more stress this month). This is my first scavenger hunt – the Stressed-out June Scavenger Hunt. I’m making it a little easier than some of the ones I’ve participated in. I'm providing a word or phrase and you need to write a poem or story incorporating them. There are one a day (like a vitamin pill) but there is no prohibition on using multiples in one entry. I don’t post on Sundays so I’ll be using the Sunday words either on Saturday or Monday. You don’t have to do them in any order either. The only rule is to enjoy yourselves and see if you can learn something…

  • I am Getting Stronger!

I think I'm getting stronger every day,
Or am I only fooling myself?
Should I go to the Dr. and be tested again?
Or am I really getting stronger every day?

    • Awesome!!! I love that you are going to attempt these!! And yes - you are strong and getting stronger!

  • Crane flies -- Like the heron, the crane flies strong and quiet (haha -- as I read this again, I realize that you're not talking about cranes, but rather about flies!)

Stronger Every Day -- Wow, that was a nasty bug that got me 5 weeks ago! I'm finally feeling the energy to live my normal life, and hope to get back to regular posting soon. I'm getting stronger every day now!

    • You can interpret it any way you want! That is the beauty of poetry... I think the bug that was sweeping the country was especially nasty this year. We all had it and thankfully we are all improving!

  • I will try to do this.

  • probably won't do this, but will truly enjoy reading the others ~ simply too pressed for time ~ :(

    • Yep. That is why it is called the "stressed-out" scavenger hunt. I hope everyone gives it a try - if not daily then at least once a week...

  • I read the crane flies as a subject and verb.
I like it when the crane flies at the park; Its huge wings spread far, Its feet trailing behind it. Birds near my home were not so large when I was growing up. All of them are fun to watch though.

  • The crane flies toward the marsh lands.

The contractor 's crane hopes nothing smashes on the land.

Both would be scared by a band.

Pity the one responsble for banding a crane.

lol I never brag about my writing ability.

  • I thought of a building crane too, but it's too late for me to write anything about one now.

  • looks like another busy month. Cranes are special, so that's a great start.

  • Hawks

    If I were a hawk,

I wold be a chicken hawk.

When I am in the kitchen,

My wife makes me feel like a chicken.

In Boston they 'pawk' the 'caa.

    I wish I was a hawk,

Then I would fly away to the pawk.

    I know---awful lol

    • Haha! It is only awful if it doesn't get a reaction. This one made me laugh! I'm especially tickled by your Boston accent! hehe!
