Looking to the Sky
A pod of whales swims
Spouting across the sky
Blue waves and white foam
Punctuated by a lone whale
Far behind the crowd
I blink and the whales
Are transformed
White tulips sprouting
Opening to the sun
Holding the sunset
In white cups overflowing
Bowing their heads
Spilling stars into nightThis is for the May 2015 Scavenger Hunt using the last two prompts - whale and tulip. We spent a fair amount of time on the road during our vacation. This gave me time to ponder things and to watch the sky. It is a game I never tire of playing - that is looking at clouds and trying to see objects. On Monday (Memorial Day) the forecast was for sunny skies early followed by showers in the evening. Fortunately it remained sunny with an abundance of pretty clouds until after we stopped for dinner. Even then the sunset was lovely and we stayed dry until we were nearly pulling into our driveway! I was travelling with my handy notebook so I could work on some of the Scavenger Hunt prompts. Thus the above poem. Yay! I'm all done!

My wife is always asking me what cloud fromations look like---to me. It must be her artistic natture. All I see is dead animals along the road.
Heh. I don't believe you. I bet you have seen lots of things - steaming cups of coffee, latte swirls, scones and cream horns, and probably plenty of smiling baristas!!!
I would love to see a pod of whales some day. I have seen dolphins and that is exciting.
Me too. I've only seen them in my imagination within the clouds...
I love clouds, whether I see anything in them or not. I love it when they are puffy and white, against a pretty blue sky, or hues of pinks and oranges as the sun sets.
Clouds offer a nice alternative to TV...
Whales carrying the stars, safely to their distant homes: A comforting fantasy.
It is... Thanks!
A lovely combination of clouds, Val. Here, because we're in the middle of the migration path, we most often see single whales or maybe in 2's or 3's, but not a large group. It is fun to see them in the clouds, too!
Sounds like a photo opportunity - have you ever photographed whales??
It was a fun weekend, wasn't it? I don't know about you, but I've been having a hard time getting back into the usual routine.
I was thrown into my week in a "sink or swim" manner. I swam but just barely. The weekend was so much fun that I want to do it again and again!
We were in some huge downpours over the weekend ~ wow ~ it rained buckets!
Yes, we got soaked. I was going to go to a meeting but decided to skip it instead of getting soaked.
