  • Looking like a King (of Prussia)

We went to King of Prussia with my mother. She had been insisting for 2 days that we needed to go. You see she had a gift certificate for Coldstone Creamery and she desperately wanted to use it! My sister (the one she lives with) is very allergic to dairy so it is not a place she has any desire to visit. Well, we didn't get to see much of the town, in fact all we saw was a town sized shopping mecca. My mother walked more than she usually does and was exhausted. She slept most of the way home.

Of all the places in the malls (we ended up visiting two), she was most fascinated by a place called Yogibo. It is a furniture store that sells a modern upscale version of the bean bag chair. They were pretty interesting and very comfortable. I took a photo of Sparky relaxing in one but missed the photo on my mother taking a rest on the "bed".

Sparky had to be dragged away from the Lego store and the wall of Lego pieces - a pint container only cost $8.99 and a full quart was $15.99! Sounds better than the sets that were mostly over $150. The sales clerk was laughing because most of of the customers were adults looking to relive their childhoods. I stopped in 5 different jewelry stores to check out their wedding sets. It only depresses me to see the prices and the styles that are now popular. It looks like with the amount of the settlement from the insurance company that I'll be checking the pawn shops to find a set sold that belonged to someone's grandmother...

I give you this little poem for the May 2015 Scavenger Hunt prompt - Drag.

I had to drag the boy child away from the dinosaurs
I dragged his brother away from the pet shop puppies
I more than once dragged the father from the comic books
Yet they complain when they drag me away from diamonds
We all drag our feet when we have to leave
And say farewell to our daydreams

  • The bean bag store and the Lego store are both places I'd enjoy visiting! One blessing of older people is they can sleep almost anywhere. :-)

    • We really wore her out. She wasn't used to all that walking. I guess it was just some conditioning for her current trip to NYC. I hope she doesn't over do it and have problems... The Lego store was really cool.

  • Your mother sleeps very deeply in the car . I do so also when I do not drive, of course .
Sparky is really with the angels in the arm chair....:)
I wish you a great Pentecost Day and offer ths to you :

    • Beautiful choir - we will be attending St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Harper's Ferry on Sunday. I hope their Pentecost service is as nice. My mother was very tired. I'm glad she was able to sleep as she tends toward insomnia.

  • Everyone has their treasures. All I remember about King of Prussia is the gargantuan Mall. I was last there in 2007, when we chose to spend the night, before exploring Philadelphia a bit.

    • Gargantuan is a good descriptive word for the place. They were in the process of building onto the existing mall - adding maybe 25% more! I thought it was too big but I guess it is a good sign of an improved economy ifthey are adding that much more retail space!

  • I am really not into shopping. I like the same thing all of the time.
    Starbucks
    Apple

  • Looks like a relaxing beginning to the vacation!!!

  • Lately I've been having an increasing temptation to sleep like in the picture WHILE I'M DRIVING. Hopefully, I will be able to continue resisting that temptation.

    • Hehe! Me too. It is never good to drive tired. Today is a big driving day... so Sparky will be highly caffeinated.
