Looking at the Scavenger Hunt
April is National Poetry Month and since Leah is no longer on xanga I've had to come up with a Scavenger Hunt on my own. The rules are simple, write one poem a day using any form your heart desires using the prompts listed below (there are 30 days in April so there are 30 prompts). And of course you have to post the poem on your Xanga blog. It’s Easy Peasy. Although there are no prizes, everyone that plays along is a winner! Now you don't have to be a Poet Laureate to play. In fact writing poetry is kind of like anything - you have to do it to get better. So here is your chance to get into the groove of poetry writing in a non-judgemental forum. Xanga is filled with folks that even though they may not love poetry, they do love their fellow xangans and will give you the support and positive feedback that every budding poet needs. So let's put our poetry out there!!
1. Simple
2. Home town
3. Believe
4. Extraordinary
5. Tiny miracles
6. Celestial Jerusalem
7. Covered bridge
8. Carpet
9. Rabbit
10. Encouragement
11. Snowbirds
12. Meatloaf
13. Hijinks
14. Cabin fever
15. Wind chimes
16. Youth
17. Steeples
18. Ghosts
19. Fountain pen
20. Resurrection
21. Tomatoes
22. Hard boiled eggs
23. I do not wish to contend
24. Kibble
25. Wool socks
26. Oil changes
27. Dog hair
28. Growth
29. Conceit
30. Patience

I doubt if I'll have time to com up with a poem every day, but here is a very short one for tomorrow. "A dimple is simple
and so is a smile."
Nice! Now you need to post it on your site so all your readers know what's up!!
lol You want me to write poems? I don't even know if I can find your list every day. i am so low tech that gophers seem high tech by comparison. I will think about it.
I think your nimble mind and sense of humor would be able to come up with some Limericks or Clerihews... You never know unless you try!
so we start tomorrow with Simple?
that's simple
It will be so easy and lots of fun!!
do you wear a little Easter Bonnet, too?
Only if you want to...
I've, never, ever, been able to come up with a poem, and trust me when I say, it's not for lack of trying.....
I think you are trying too hard - just write a sentence about what is important to you. Then write another one - they don't have to rhyme, they don't have to do anything but give the reader something to think on...
I used to do this religiously for so many years, then quit last year. I think I should resume this in 2014.
"Simple?" Okay, I shall try it Val.
Hooray!!! I can't wait to see what you will write!
I know I can't get back into it. I don't have the passion for it anymore and I was mediocre at best when I did have the emotions waiting to be released onto the poor xangan friends that were in it's path lol. I'll get the word out to peacenow she might be interested. I was wondering when you were going to do your own prompts.
Since Leah has moved her site/ shut down on WP I was forced to come up with my own scavenger hunt... Do you think you might squeeze out just one little poem - you have the whole month to do it?
I'm going to do it too....Aloysius already started!
Not sure I'll get through 30, but you might see a poem or two from me!
Woohoo! I am thrilled that you will play along!!
I shall try. With a prompt, do we use that word, or just the concept?
Yes! And yes. You can do either one, although you should try to work the word in somewhere..
APRIL 1st is done then ... & that's no April fools!
I can't wait to read your post!
Would love to. But, can't see how it fits into my journal style.
Maybe you need to shake things up a little... step outside your comfort zone...
Zakiah told me you had a scavenger hunt up. =) I'll be sure to join in on the fun.
Yay! The more the merrier! I'll look forward to your contributions!
Wematter told me of your NPM hunt. I've been absent but might try a few before the month is out
. peace always
Oh I hope you do join in the fun! The more the merrier!!
So this is the origin of the contest...
NPM hunt, that stands for no poetry meant or no prose needed?
HA!
Sail on.. sail on!!!
I think you should write some piratey poems... perhaps with a sail on refrain!!
