  • Looking to Entertain

I must apologize for not being here yesterday or much today. You see, my mother (Gma_joyce) and my sister came to town to visit. We have a wedding to attend today and they stayed with me overnight. I worked all day Friday so the earliest I was able to get home was about 5:30 PM. Lucky for me Sparky had most things in hand. He is the grill master and is in charge of the steaks and son#1 helped me with preparing the grilled veggies. I whipped up the quinoa in less than a half hour so dinner came off without a hitch, nearly. I made baked apples (on the grill). I still have to wrap the wedding gift and finish the laundry. Even with all the rush I'm excited to be able to visit with my family.

    That celestial body hangs above
    Just out of reach
    I brush fingertips grasping at
    That glowing orb
    Looking down at empty hands
    and wonder why
It seems so near and yet so far
    The moon is sham
    A mockery of the sun
And I call it out -
    A coward in the night

This is another poem in the Big-Giant-Back-To-School-3 Month Scavenger Hunt. Again from Poetry 101 Celestial Bodies series.. enjoy!

  • Brilliantly conceived poem. I enjoy such spielerisch word play!

    • And I love the word spielerisch! Learning through play is the first method by which we learn... Long live the whimsy!

    • It has been a good weekend - still have stuff that I'm scheduled to do... retired - ah the dream is alive!

    • I live to find the whimsy - hope you can locate some too!

  • You're the quinoa person, me too. Yes, the moon should pay rent :)

    • The moon gets all the press but I know it is just imitating the sun!

    Passing on some important information:
    Name Link not Working?

If you notice that names in comments are no longer clickable and the avatars lead to a ‘not found’ page, do this: Top right, of your screen where your cute lil avatar is, chose Edit Profile. Scroll through and look for the space next to Website. Add in your xanga address (eg. http://myname.xanga.com) and this make it so that your name becomes a clickable link. It still does not work with your avatar image however.

Try this! It worked for me!
    HUGS!!! :-)

    • Thanks! I did it and I hope that makes it easier to come and go from my comments! Thanks again for the kind words regarding the poem. You made me smile!

  • You read my mind, I didn't think you would get what I was saying. You're one sharp "wahine" and your comments are in order too...now:) but for how long-- lol

  • I do love the moon -- even if it's a reflective device - let's not take away the magic ;-) . peace always
