  • Looking Into the Sky

    Wheat heads heavy wave
    Sleepy grain gains solace
    Moon shine’s silver midnight
    Celestial bodies beam calm
    Ripening farm fields rest
    Time sleeps so tired
    Traveling years yielding this
    Star kiss of star light
    Planetary energy
    Poured into bread

This world is made of star dust. There is water that is the same water that made up the moisture in first plant, the first mammal, the first human tear. I drank it, bathed in it, sweated it from my pores and returned it to the sky to become a snow flake or a river or the milk for a newborn fawn. There is carbon that is the same carbon spewed from a volcano, powdered from the carcass of a mammoth, that was the marshmallow I burnt in the campfire at the age of 10. That energy that travels across space striking this planet is incorporated into the plants, into the animals, into the people. We are star dust and star light because we are what we eat. I just wish we could remember to look for that in each other.

This is another poem in the Big-Giant-Back-To-School-3 Month- Scavenger Hunt. (I really need to figure out an abbreviation for the name!) This was from Poetry 101: a poem in the series for the Celestial Body prompt and I added the pastoral element. I know I'm just doing this to torture myself. I'll see if I can make it through September without crying "Uncle!"

  • Where do you get the scavenger hunt prompts?

    • I went to anvilsandadelweiss.wordpress.com which is where Leah has landed. I'm doing them on xanga since I refuse to do WP. She posted the August Scavenger Hunt and now this one which is ginormous... You should do it too!

  • The poem is nice but I love the explanation more :D Will you get this comment?

  • This is lovely :-) . I love the explanation too. I've seen a poster around that says "We are all made of Stardust" and I love it. peace always

    • Good morning! Thanks for the compliment! I have seen that poster too!

  • I wish we could always remember that, too. :-)
Sigh. This poem and your words (after the poem) were a joy to read! I just got in from a late night walk among the moon and stars!:-)

  • Beautiful...You've made nothing, into reality...Great work....

    • Thanks dear! I think we all need to look for that Divine Spark in others!

  • I remember to look for the light and the gold. It's a choice to cast aside the negative vision and let the start dust settle for a better look.
    I like this one!

    • Thank -you! I'm trying hard today to see the cosmic charm in others. Some days are easier than others!

  • excellent work

  • OMG Val! What a singular pleasure to know someone like you, who can decipher the mysteries of our lives and speak about them so eloquently. Bravo!

    • Thanks Michel! The pastoral poem is one that I like! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • I admire the alliteration
    I savor the style
I nod approvingly at nature allusions

  • Val!!!!! I found you!!! lol I do not know what to do with you now that I found you in Xanga 2.0 Can I wreak you? (sorry, I meant recommend)

That is true--Adam and Eve drank the same water I had this morning. That is probably true.

    Hope you are doing well.

    • Thanks Frank! I'm thrilled you have discovered me! There is no like or recommend button on xanga 2.0 but I'm hoping the xangan's in charge can fix that - it would make most people very happy...

  • Passing on some important information:
    Name Link not Working?

If you notice that names in comments are no longer clickable and the avatars lead to a ‘not found’ page, do this: Top right, of your screen where your cute lil avatar is, chose Edit Profile. Scroll through and look for the space next to Website. Add in your xanga address (eg. http://myname.xanga.com) and this make it so that your name becomes a clickable link. It still does not work with your avatar image however.

Try this! It worked for me!
    HUGS!!! :-)
