Viewing the Chalupa
It started a long time ago when the kids were young. On the spur of the moment, being spontaneous and all, we tried to go out on Feb. 14th. To our dismay there were long waits at all the eateries, so long in fact that we decided to go to the only place in town that had an empty parking lot. When we were visiting my parents in Muncie a few years later, they offered to watch the boys while we went out to dinner. Well, same thing - St. Valentine's Day and since we didn't have reservations there was no way were were going to be seated. After cruising around to many different places, we turned in to the Taco Bell. We had the place to ourselves, ate cheap, and managed to get home before the kid's bedtime... Thus a tradition is born. With Valentine's Day sandwiched between out birthdays, it isn't so important to eat out or spend a lot of cash. We just returned from dining out for Valentine's Day. Most couples go to romantic venues or expensive restaurants with mood lighting and fresh flowers on the tables. Not us - nope. We went to "our" spot.... Taco Bell. Yep - the place with faux mexican food real cheap. It cost $5.35 for both of us (and that included tax). Now I know that many would say that romance is dead in our lives. It has changed from the high school version (chocolates and flowers) to a more mature concept - namely doing other things like unloading the dishwasher or making coconut ginger rice Thai style. Sure, I love chocolate, but with Valentine's Day during Lent it doesn't work since I renounced it this year. Those chocolate bunnies taste sooo much better if you've gone without for 7 weeks...

hi Val...nothing wrong with the mature concept...Laurel and I did indulge ourselves with a mexican dinner downtown, but we did it wednesday night to avoid the amateurs...we went cheap tonight, at home...part of my gift to her was straightening the apartment, putting her jammies on the radiator, just before she got home, from work...then i made dinner for us...i made angus cheeseburgers, seasoned homemade fries, coleslaw, and for after, chocolate brandied coffee, while we sat and watched chick flicks...the things we do for love...he he he...hope you're having a happy V-day...hugs...animal
